Can you introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

Hello! I am Denise Skiadopoulos. I studied photography at Leica Academy Greece, and I'm also a graduate of Business Administration Management. My sister and I run our own photographic company, Skiadopoulos LTD, representing top brands such as Leica, Lomography, and many others!

What does analogue mean to you?

Analogue means authenticity for me, along with the creative possibilities—and constraints— that come with film. There’s surely something romantic about it, like vinyl and other analogue tech. Film has an enduring, authentic appeal and is making a comeback among professionals and amateurs alike. I also think there’s a quality to film that really cannot be matched by a digital image.

What does Lomography mean to you?

Lomography means a lot to me—so many emotions, feelings, memories, freedom, creativity and much more.

Why do you choose to work with Lomography?

It was love at first sight!

What is your favorite Lomography product and why?

Well, it’s difficult to choose, since all cameras can offer you amazing images! But the Lomo LC-A+ is my all-time love. The lens, the pictures, and the size of the camera are just perfect!

What does the future of analogue photography look like to you? How will this impact your business in the next ten years?

Analogue photography has been around for over a century. Film isn’t going anywhere, not for a while at least. It gives you lessons and teaches you about light and composition. It’s just different and that’s why it’ll stick around.

Do you think there are any specific advantages or disadvantages to being a female business owner?

By being a business owner, you have the flexibility to build your business how you want to build it. That means getting to choose who you work with, and what projects you work on. While the independent lifestyle may sound enticing, with freedom comes responsibility. Running a business is hard work, you should be comfortable making decisions, learning new things, and seeking out help when you’re not sure what to do.

Do you have a favorite memory from running your business over the years?

To be honest, I am very lucky because there are many favorite memories through the years, and this is because of our customers. I’m fortunate to have the great privilege to get to speak to lots of people. It’s truly one of the most enjoyable things I get to do in my job.

Who inspires you?

My family and people that I have met.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to start their own creative business as you have done?

Have confidence in yourself and your business. Know and love the product or service that you offer. And lastly, remember that it takes time.
