Film Swappers Society: First Edition Favorites from "Make This a Double"

4

Recently, Lomographer Anca Pandrea, a.k.a. ofchanceandchoice launched a project called Make This a Double. The international project now has several film swaps and double exposure collaborations from Lomography Community members and film photographers over Instagram. Check out some of our favorite series from the project, and maybe join in the project too!

Richard and Irene with Rose-Colored Glasses

UK-based Richard a.k.a. @richardhall and Italy-based Irene's (a.k.a. irenesteger_photos) film swap are an experiment with redscale film. Contrasts, shadows, and light form newer landscapes and scenery. The sharp contrasts and semi-surreal compositions remind us of pictures being overlayed by candlelight.

Lenka and Philippe's Bright Colors

The Lomographic aesthetic lives on with Lenka a.k.a. @lenka_rohlinkova and Philippe a.k.a. @frenchyfyl. The two used a Minolta XG-1 and a Lomo LC-Wide to produce these saturated color shots. These look like opaque gouache paintings, do they not?

Monochromatic Textures by Troch and Nick

One of the latest additions to the project is @troch and @nicktaurojr's collaboration. Both shot their photos with separate films due to issues, but they decided to sandwich together the films to create a differently processed double exposure. It's "'lemonade from lemons' kind", Anca noted. The results turned out grungy and incredibly textured!

Niels and Normand's Soft and Subtle LomoChrome Metropolis

The LomoChrome Metropolis shines once again thanks to Netherlands-based Niels (a.k.a. @kamiraze) and Canada-based Normand's (a.k.a. normand.charpentier in Instagram) double project. Shooting ordinary street scenes and landscapes. Niels used a Contax RTS and Normand use an Olympus OM2N.

Abstracts with Juha and Monika

The devil's in the details for Juha a.k.a. @fartstorm and Monika a.k.a @agrimony. Both Lomographers opted to zoom in and tightly crop these objects found in ordinary life. Superimposing their shots together create these abstract black-and-white photos.

Thank you for featuring us and for giving our project a home ♥
PS: ‘lemonade from lemons’ was Nick’s playful nickname for how their surreal swap turned out
