Roche Rock

I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with these shots. I hate the whole TLR shooting experience and I'd fully made up my mind to sell this camera but i stupidly decided to put a roll through it before moving it on. So half heartedly i took it along with my nikon em to the ancient hermitage/ chapel (actually no-one really knows what it was lol) called Roche Rock and quickly fired off the roll at f8 thinking that that would give me the best chance of decent focus and exposure and moved on to what i know best ( 35mm). Well how can i sell the bloody thing now, I mean look at the character of that lens! Wow, i'm actually gobsmacked! So next up is a trip into my darkroom to see how a couple of these print and then i suppose I'm gonna have to add it to my ever increasing photographic arsenal, grit my teeth and try to force myself to use it more often. Rolleicord 1933, Carl Zeiss Jena 75mm f 3.8, triotar lens.

These look really nice, there's loads of detail across the frame. Old lenses have a different character that comes from the simple construction and the old glass. I don't know how you dev'd them, but I suspect stand judging by the fairly low contrast. I think you could do a beautiful print on the old Kodak paper. I never liked square format, it just doesn't work for me. I had a Mamiya TLR years ago but I flogged it to a mate who used it for weddings but you seem to be pretty comfortable with it. Keep it up.

@malcolm_tremain I'm with you Malcolm, not a fan of tlrs or square format particularly but whats not to like about these few shots, I'm trying to physic myself up now to venture into my attic darkroom to try to print a couple of these, they will be up on flikr later if any good. Correctly called with the stand dev, it seems to be pretty reliable with 120, i guess its the lack of sprocket holes. On the back of these results I thought id give it another go with the 35mm tasma i shot here, results were crap, a return of the dreaded streaks and underdeveloped to boot, I'm posting a few now just as a record. Cheers mate.

I reckon you should try the Tasma with Rodinal 1:50 for about ten minutes, agitate gently every minute. You won't get the bromide drag and the contrast will be much better. Of course, you may well prefer them as they are and that's also good :) I know I sound like a boring old fuck, but give it it go.
