A view on ruined beauty
Rajù used to be a small village in the Nebrodi mountains in Sicily, along the Fantina mountain river. At its highest, it housed at least 400 people. On December 31, 1972, heavy rainfall caused a flash flood that destroyed the lower part of town and killed 4 people. The next day, it was ordered to all inhabitants to evacuate, as the damage was too great. To this day, the town is all but abandoned.
