Welcome to Porthleven

Welcome to Porthleven. Surfing and a homecoming fishing boat on a stormy day at Cornwall's famous reef break. This place breaks rarely but when it does the counties finest surfers drop everything to get barrelled . Not a place for the faint hearted, it's very shallow and breaks over a rocky slab. Maximum push out of the double x as the light was just atrocious , all shots with my tokina 200mm zoom and a 2x converter, handheld mostly at 1/60, 1/125.

@malcolm_tremain cheers, I'm finding myself using a zoom or tele more often these days, might crack out the 180 zeiss Olympic lens next, at least that one's relatively fast at f2.8!

I think this is one of your best pictures yet. top 10 for sure. the zoom has a way of compressing the distance. wonderful story

@heliossstardeath there are pictures from a decade or two back of this church being enveloped in water, the waves literally smashing into and over it, it's a miracle it still stands. As I said I'm having fun learning the zoom. Thanks.
