A Minuscular World with The Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens Macro Adapter Feature

1

Going macro means that we can get into details and step into a minuscular world. In many cases, macro lenses are used: for pictures of flowers and insects, or for scientific purposes. The signature style of those pictures, is often vivid, with bright colors to enhance the features of the subject.

The Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens 2.9/64 gives an artistic twist into the world of macro photography. Reversing your lens has never been so fun! With the adapter for Canon EF mount of Nikon F mount, the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens has expanded the creative possibilities to a whole new level. The focal lens is up to 15cm. For a creative mind this means, opening a door into a world of details and patterns; that has always been difficult to reach before.

The Process

Once I screwed the lens into the camera, the question was: "what would I be curious to see from up close?" The skin is the largest organ in our body. It protects us from external calamities such as bacteria and so on. Quite often, the skin is spotted with bruises, scars, freckles, dead cells, and the like. The skin is the perfect canvas for a macro lens to explore.

One thought leads to another and I started to work on vegetables and fruits, in relation to skin and this pattern. Many people may have noticed some similarities between our cell's design and the one from food. I found this to be quite fascinating, and I wanted to investigate further the creative possibilities.

I paired my images with Lomography Color Negative 800. The combination with the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens has resulted in a soft and delicate set of images. Using backlight, fruits and vegetables were shot to highlight the diagram of those structures.

Bruises, scars, tattoos are indelible marks that we carry. Different people were asked to show particular signs, a sting on their skin. They tell the story of an event in our past, while some are decoratives. All of them are an omen to the crucial role that this organ play's in keeping us alive.

In the End, It was Cohesion

The result turned out to be a sinuous coupling of patterns. Not only did the rhythm of lines and shape were coming together, but the shading and colors of the pictures granted a harmonious look to the final composition. The final thought while looking at the frames might seem underlined; however, it is a reminder that life is interconnected, between one another.

The smooth skin tones mitigate the sensorial flash that comes to mind if we separate the images from one another. While observing the images, an orange loses its acidity, a healing leg playfully in symbiosis with the partnered onion becomes a vortex of circles. In the end; we don't cry for the piling of the root, as much as we don't suffer, for the wound.
