Can you introduce yourself to the Lomography community?

We are an analogue photography laboratory and store that was founded in Barcelona in 2019. We do C41, B&W, and E6 processes all in our lab so that we have complete control of each process. Our premise has been and will always be to offer high-quality service at a very competitive price, as well as a wide range of photographic films. We have an open space so that you can see how we work, as well as an exhibition area for our clients, and lastly a designated area for workshops

What does analogue mean to you?

Analogue photography gives an organic result that digital photography is unable to offer without post-processing. With the digital boom, all this was about to be lost, and it was relegated to the use of professionals and a few 'outsiders' who remained faithful to this form of photography.

It gives us the opportunity to meet people with the same interests as us, develop creatively and experiment. Now fortunately we are experiencing a resurgence, with a firm commitment by some brands such as Lomography.

What does Lomography mean to you?

For many users, Lomography is their first contact with analogue photography and therefore is an essential piece in this 'universe'. In addition, Lomography is committed to the continuity of formats such as 110, which have been neglected by other brands, and which provide an unmatched lo-fi finish that many users seek.

Why do you choose to work with Lomography?

Having Lomography products in our catalog was a 'must' due to the relevance of the brand—including the exclusivity of some of their products and their firm commitment to analog photography

What is your favorite Lomography product and why?

LomoChrome Purple, because of how different it is from the rest of the reels. It is a film that we along with our customers love.

Are you doing any creative projects right now in the store, or personally? Please tell us more about them.

In addition to the exhibition space, we have an area for teaching courses and workshops on analogue photography. All the members of our team come from creative fields and we have our own personal photography projects, with themes ranging from nudes to concerts and sports.

What does the future of analogue photography look like to you? How will this impact your shop in the next ten years?

At the moment, the future is somewhat uncertain since although there is a great rebound in people who shoot analogue. It is also more difficult to find films while the price continues to rise notably year after year. Even so, we are optimistic and we trust that analogue photography will not die of success and has come back for good this time.

What difficulties did your shop/lab have to face during the lockdowns and what kept you going through these hard times?

The lockdown was very hard for everyone. We didn't want to stand still and we were able to continue operating through the post office. People kept shooting analog, and it was also the opportunity for a lot of people to rescue their old cameras from the drawer and take it back or get started. We developed a door-to-door collection system for our clients. Hundreds of clients sent their reels our way and even today they continue to arrive from all over Spain and also from Europe!

Quick Questions

What's the most annoying thing about running an analogue lab?

I really don't appreciate the impatience of some clients when it comes to receiving their photos. In general, society is very badly accustomed to immediacy, and that is something that does not fit with analogue photography if you wish to obtain good results.

What's your favorite memory from the lab so far?

The gratitude of many clients for receiving their photos and being delighted with the result and the service we have given them.

What's the weirdest thing you have received when developing films?

There are a lot! But we have seen things that we would rather not remember...

What would you do if you didn’t run a photo lab?

We probably would have embarked on other projects of our own. Before starting the laboratory project, we were professionally dedicated to graphic design and the music industry, so we might have continued to be linked to those sectors.
