This Was the NYC Film Photo Gathering 2021

1

After a year of Zoom events and virtual workshops, we were especially excited to bring our local NYC Film Photography Community safely back together for what's starting to become an end of summer tradition – our NYC Film Photo Gathering in collaboration with Brooklyn Film Camera in Prospect Park.

And it seemed like we weren't the only people craving to take some real-life portraits instead of screenshots. With a record number of attendees throughout the day, we were once more reassured that film is indeed alive and well! Here are a few analogue impressions from some of our guests who were kind enough to share their photos with us.

What's new at this year's gathering is the breakout-workshops offered to all visitors for free every half-hour. We were honored to have Ethan Moses of Cameradactyl drive his van full of cameras all the way up from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and host a box camera workshop!

Our friend Colby Sadeghi set up a full wet plate collodion outdoor studio and demonstrated the historic process, creating breathtaking photographs of some of our guests.

For guests itching to take some shots themselves, Lomography's very own Chrystofer Davis joined us for a photo walk through the park, shooting Lomography's creative film stocks, providing a mix of LomoChrome Purple, Metropolis and several of our cinematic B&W Kino films.

The NYC Film Lab was on-site, to advise on how to properly read your negatives, making sure whoever wants to develop and/or scan at home, can fully understand the material they're working with.

Thanks to our amazing community of local film photography businesses, we were able to host our biggest raffle to this day with over 20 incredible prizes! We want to thank our incredible Film Photography community, particularly everyone who came out to join our gathering, mingled, snapped shots, and made this event such a peaceful and wonderful experience for everyone!

A special thank you to our partner Brooklyn Film Camera for teaming up with us every year as well as all our sponsors and supporting local businesses and Liquid Death for sponsoring water and making sure we all stayed hydrated!
