“Deep into the Core”: a Soulful Multiple Exposure Series by Hodachrome
7 25 Share TweetThe Gifu-based Lomographer and multiple exposure master Hodaka Yamamoto, a.k.a. hodachrome returns with another riveting series of perfectly layered portraits, using silhouettes, landscapes and nature.
The series 安らぎの刻, or Deep Into the Core is one of Hodaka’s breathtaking multiple exposure projects, once again proving the magic with intentional compositions by superimposing images. Many of the shots have two or more subjects, the body silhouettes framing another subject right at the heart. The shots seem to consist of Hodaka’s important people and meaningful things in life — one of his models being his father, and a bouquet from Mother’s Day.
Hodaka also uses natural landscapes and elements, composed along with the human subject. The series of portraits form a symbiotic relationship between man and nature. There’s also the implication that the people in his images are similar to these earthly elements. The colors are also natural and straightforward as Hodaka used the Lomography Color Negative 100.
