Maelys, a.k.a. Ivannalys is a 23 years old French photographer based in Lille, North of France. Some months ago, she created a series called “The Odyssey” with our Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens. A mix between vintage and futurism. It’s the story of a man coming from space and conquering earth at night.
The photos are stylized in a retro-futuristic way using metallic textures, solid beams of light with a soft pictorial glow.
“I love the idea of being able to create and tell stories without sentences. My stories are only visual and they leave space to the viewer’s imagination.”
Ivannalys appreciated the fact that she did not have to go through photo-editing using the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens, relying only on its soft focusing to paint pictorial-like images.
“The Daguerreotype is ideal to create artistic pictures without post-production! I appreciated the sweet halo effect!”
Her advice to people using the Daguerreotype: “I think that the effects are very interesting when there are multiple sources of lights. Thanks to light you can get effects so you could try shooting at night with various bright spots!”
