Hong Kong Photographer Sunny Liu's First Experience with the Atoll Ultra-Wide 2.8/17 Art Lens

Sunny Liu is a photographer from Hong Kong who is famous for capturing the everyday life of the vivid city. He tested out our newest Atoll Ultra-Wide 2.8/17 Art Lens by visiting the busiest streets in Hong Kong. In this article Sunny shares with us a candid view of a city in lockdown and talked to us about his experiences shooting with this ultra-wide lens.

Sunny, haven't seen you for a long time! How have you been?

Yeah, Long time so see! I have been working at the office like usual since my company didn't implement work-from-home.

What places did you go to for trying out the Atoll lens?

After receiving the lens from Lomography, I took it to Sham Shui Po which I haven't visited for a long time, also shot it at some other places that I pass by daily.

Seeing that your photos were mainly shot in the daytime, what are the settings for the lens and your camera?

In the daytime, f/5.6 is mostly used, the aperture is small enough to not require constant focusing.

How was the experience shooting with the newest Lomography Art Lens?

Although I was shooting with a prototype, I can feel that how light and compact this lens is.

What subject would you recommend to shoot with this 17mm wide-angle focal length?

This ultra-wide-angle lens is very suitable for street photography. Although I rarely use this focal length myself, I regained my interest in shooting with wide-angle lens through this opportunity. I recommend checking out Alan Schaller & Vineet Vohra for their wide-angle photography.

Any upcoming projects?

Haven't thought of any yet, will have to wait until the pandemic is over.
