Spooky Gradients: Fill Your HydroChrome Sutton's Panoramic Belair Camera with [Fake] Blood

Ghouls and girls of every age, would you like to see something strange? Try filling your HydroChrome Sutton's Panoramic Belair Camera with [fake] blood, and see what ghoulish photos you could create with this gory concoction!

Okay, we decided to fill our lens half-way with fake blood in order to achieve a cool gradient. Why fake blood? You could actually use any kind of colored liquid slightly denser than water to create this trick, but we decided using fake blood because...it Halloween! and we had an extra tube of blood lying around. Not to mention, it almost looks like giving your camera a blood transfusion, which certainly fits the season's vibe.

What you would need

• A glass of water
• A syringe (one is included when you purchase your camera)
• fake/stage blood (you could also use grenadine, or colored simple syrup)

Transfusion Time!

To achieve a gradient of two different liquids inside your HydroChrome Sutton's Panoramic Belair Camera, you would need to first fill your lens with the "lighter" liquid...In this case, water:

Next, insert the intake tube in the blood mixture, and with the syringe, slowly suck the blood into the lens. Be mindful of how much of the denser liquid gets in your lens. Remember, we want to achieve a nice gradient:

There you have it! A bloody gradient inside your lens. Now it's time to test it out. We used Lomography's Color Negative 400 ISO film for our sample photos, but feel free to use any color film stock you want!
