Hi, Miri! Please introduce yourself to Lomographers.

Hi! I am Miri, a photographer living in Vienna, Austria for 8 years now. I work as a director for Austria's first local "snap shop" called Real Vienna, taking candid wedding and honeymoon photos. Also, I try to capture as many photos as I can, from every small corner of my life. It's been 11 years now as a photographer, playing piano at the same time.

I heard you take photos in Vienna! How did you start taking pictures here?

I always liked taking photos! And in 2009 Germany, I started taking photography seriously. After moving to Austria I even worked as a photojournalist in Austria Korean Society. From that onwards, I took pictures in Real Vienna, which is an Austrian branch of the company Real Style based in Praha, Czech Republic.

We heard that you mainly work on couples and wedding photos! Do you have any tips for taking these pictures?

I like taking photos and also being taken in pictures, but I find it still awkward when I stand in front of the camera. So I like taking more candid pictures, keeping some distance like a paparazzi. I also become the model myself sometimes. Being the model myself I can explain better and ask them for more detailed postures and motions.

Actually last year I took my wedding pictures myself instead of getting them done in studios. Among them I have some beautiful bokeh photos from the Petzval 85mm lens. I kept directing my awkward husband. Just like this, I can catch some minor parts like their hair, rather than just simply taking photos.

Please recommend the best place to take pictures in Vienna!

I actually love all the parts of Vienna! Just by itself is like a huge studio, with beautiful backgrounds. Besides the famous landmarks, each small alleys in the city gives a different feeling. The spots I also take are the places I like, and I go around places to find out the backgrounds that "I wish to be a part of". And the list of these shooting spots are keep expanding!

What gear do you usually take pictures with?

I use Nikon camera, but now I also often use Sony a9 and 85GM, Fuji x-pro2, and 18-55mm lens. I also like Leica, especially the features of M9. Among the M240, I use both M, M-P alternatively. For Leica I often use 35mm, 40mm and 50mm, but for others I like to use 75mm and 85mm instead! It is all telephoto lens but it's actually useful for indoors as well.

You also use film cameras frequently. What do you think is the best part of film cameras?

To my surprise, I happened to collect quite a lot of film cameras! I think the charming thing about film cameras is that you don't know how the pictures will be until you process the film. It eventually amplifies your emotion. I do edit digital photos by photoshop to look like films, but it is not easy to make the colors from the processed films.

How was your experience with the new Petzval lens?

I was fluttered I could try the Petzval lens with the angle view that I always liked! I always liked the existing Petzval 85mm, so I was very excited for the new Petzval. It is smaller and lighter (aluminium) so it was easier to carry around with! Also the soft background blur effect of Petzval gave a very impressing results.

What is your favourite photo with the New Petzval 80.5mm Art Lens?

Actually I have many favourites it's hard to decide! Testing this Petzval lens my husband, my forever model, also took photos for me! So I loved all the pictures that he captured me. Perhaps it is the softening effect of Petzval that makes my skin look better?

I also like the theme park photos in Prater that I took with my film camera. I wish I could make them into postcards. I almost lied down on the street just to capture that reflected ferries wheel on the puddle. Fortunately the results were very satisfactory.

You also have many Lomography products. What is your favourite Lomo camera?

I have many Lomo cameras and among them my favourite is Lomo LC-Wide. I like the wide frame pictures so I have two of them, one just for wide and the other one with an installed instant back and use as a polaroid. It is really fun to use ultra wide lens.

What is your next plan or dreams?

In this city Vienna I love, I pray for many of those who find me to have beautiful memories in their trip and hope that I can keep taking warm and precious photos. I also want to take photos of my family to keep their memories everyday. I would be happier if Lomography products were part of them too! See you all in Vienna!
