The Netherlands is a country of tulips and windmills. The Netherlands also has 740 years of Dutch water management history. See Kinderdijk ("Children dike"), a small village in the northwest of the Alblasserwaard, where windmills are still working! It is an amazing experience that reflects the history of Dutch people and its waters.

For nearly a thousand years, the Dutch have been clever in dealing with the water that surrounds them. To drain the polder and keep Kinderdijk dry, a system of 19 windmills was built around 1740. This group is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. The area and its windmills were granted a UNESCO World Heritage status since 1997. The windmills of Kinderdijk, one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. It’s high time to come and visit then, so you can experience your own adventure and walk among the age-old windmills of Kinderdijk! My personal adventure was heavy rain and the fact that I was drenched to the bones but it's lucky that my photo equipment remained dry.
