How to Upload Photos on our Site

38

Got your photos? Ready! On the new Lomography site? Set! Follow the instructions below … GO!!!

Fast Drag and Drop Upload

When reworking our uploading tool our idea was to give you the easiest and fastest way to get your photos to our site and into your Lomohome. To do so we built these uploading spots where you can simply drag and drop the photos on the grey area (or use the browse dialog), add a description and clicks on publish. If you use #hashtags they will be autolinked and used as tags. Once you uploaded the photos you can create an album on the spot and organize them in there.
These uploading spots are never far and you can find them all over the website, in your home, the photo section and on the website cover

Photo Organisation Tool

We know that you don’t only want to upload but also tag, assign, rearrange your Photos so we are currently working on a more sophisticated photo organization tool which will be similar to the old lab and offer you all the functionally you need in archiving your shots. We are putting our finishing touches on this feature right now and will let you know as soon as it’s out and ready to use!

Let us know how you feel

We thank you for the generous feedback during the testing phase, and we would be more than grateful to receive more. Send us an email at next@lomography.com if you encounter any problems or have any ideas on how to make the site even better.

what happened to those photos I have uploaded, but not made public on the old lab - can't find them anymore?

May I wish that: I can edit or delete comments I wrote "with in 24 hours". The reason is, I usually make mistakes in spelling, sentence construction, or the comment is 'out of line' or 'misinterpreted' by the readers. And in most cases, my comments holds true only at the time I wrote it. After sometime, my comment does not make sense anymore.

About your library, may I suggest that any photo uploaded (and remained in the HOME for 72 hours), a 'carbon copy' will forever be stored in a master/main library of lomography? Even if the account is closed or the photo is deleted by the account holder? "It is for archiving purposes only." You can put this in the TERMS & CONDITIONS. Lomography.com has a part in the history of FILM PHOTOGRAPHY.

    I thank you, very much.

Great job! Happy that all the testing payed off! And good luck with all the changes. I wish to add my voice on the suggestion from @Beblo.
I am strongly against storing photos in any form in case the photo is deleted by the account owner or the account completely closed. This website serves for me to show my photography, not as a storage service, and I wish to be able to keep full control as until now.
    Best regards, K.

@HERVINSYAH Can you send me your set up (os, browser), then we will look into this. I uploaded a bunch a photos yesterday without problems, but i will try now again!

@andrus_n They will be back as soon as we put up the albums. Which will be very soon I hope!

@beblo We were actually thinking about a grace period for comments too. It's definitely useful We might add this then at a later point once the other needed features are up :)

  8. pan_dre

@kattyz @beblo You will also stay in control of your photos and intellectual property. Using the site as your storage you still need to have the option to get a certain photo or blog entry "off the internet"

@kattyz Happy to hear that you like it :) There is still a lot of work to get all the missing things up but we are happy our baby is out now!

I don't know how to put my uploaded photos into an album. How do I do that? Website looks great!

@chappelow We still need to roll out the albums feature, but we're on it! Meanwhile you can just upload them and organize them with tags. I'll let you know when the albums are finished :)

I'm loving the new site, looks nice and sleek and very well organized. Is there a way to update your profile or add/change a profile photo yet?

While testing the next.lomography.com beta website, I was able to upload a 24Mpixels (4000 x 6000 pixels) jpeg file of a photograph (@ 14,257,847 bytes). So, the 5MB upload limit was exceeded and yet the 14.2MB (14,257,847 bytes) jpeg file was rendered "beautifully".

If I am not mistaken, this is now that beta website.

I tried to select 9 photographs from my computer, and then 'drag & drop' them all at the same time [the photographs have a total size of 27.0 MB (28,413,109 bytes)] inside the grey area (for upload). It was accepted.
Again, if I am not mistaken, this is now that beta website.

But, I am sad to say that during the beta website design, Microsoft did not yet release the WINDOWS 10. I hope Andie, Markus, and the development team, research and prepare for this.

Hey @pan_dre, great work on the new site! Just wondering where the album option is? I uploaded 16 photos at once and the only option I had was to add a description. I've looked through the photo editor and have seen the tag options and map, etc, but don't see an album option. Am I missing it?

  22. befaster
    befaster ·

Also, @pan_dre, I can't find the same metadata information that used to be around. Will that be added in the new website too? I'd love to be able to define my photos by camera or film...

@pan_dre ok, enough comments from me and forget what I just asked, found your comment above that explains it... Thanks!

Is there any way to get to the old Lab section? I want to organize by album, and most important, edit camera and film information.

What would be the best (as in most suitable) resolution of our photos to work well on the new site? I'd like to keep them small but large enough to prevent them from needing to be upscaled.

@befaster ;) Glad you liked the page. I'll check back here as soon as we have the rest of the upload and photo features rolled out and will update the article then!

I would like to thank you @pan_dre, Andie & the development team for granting my wish to be able to delete comments I wrote. I just tried this feature 5 times on the same comment (a few minutes ago). It works very well. .*@:-)

@beblo thanks for the info but I still can't upload my big size photo =(

  29. beblo

@hervinsyah, please make sure the photo you are trying to up load is in 'jpeg file format'. My notebook computer internet connection is LAN (MyPLDTdsl @100mbps). My browser is Firefox
    Version 35.0.1.
The 14.2MB jpeg file photo (I successfully uploaded) is almost 3 times the 5MB regulated limit set by lomography.com, but it was accepted in the next.lomography beta website. This is that website now.

I like this new layout but still i prefer the old layout where there's no difficulties facing such as create album, what camera using, what film using & etc.

I am no longer able to upload photos to Lomography since the new website went live. I have tried dragging and dropping as well as selecting photos on my computer. Absolutely nothing happens. I've searched for a solution but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Macbook running os 10.6.8 with Adobe Flash 16.0.0.305
