My Analogue Bucket List: Faster Than a Speeding Cannonball

3

The new year is still young, but it seems as if it’ll be over quickly. My organizer is already filled with entries until June. 2015 will probably be worse than 2014 when it comes to having time off so I could take some analogue shots. Anyway, there are some photography-related things that I really want to get done. It is probably best to set some goals if I only have very limited time.

On top of my to-do-list is to make huge print (1m x 1m) of this shot by dear community member gauthierdumonde from Belgium, as well as two other prints of the same size. But as I don’t want my own pictures displayed in my flat, I asked two other users here if I could use theirs instead and get a high-resolution scan. Unfortunately, my requests remained unanswered. It is not about shooting photographs myself, but this is top priority.

Besides having plans for perhaps buying a certain camera or shooting a special film with a particular camera at one spot, I would really like to look back in 2016 and point at one photo I took in 2015 and say, “Hell yes, you really captured a great moment there.” Be it a street photograph, or a photo that has a special light or mood. I failed to do just that in 2014.

Everyone is looking for a great motif and/or composition for their photographs. There is nothing wrong with it. But having only few instances to shoot makes me think that I have to explore simplicity, to find the beauty in something that is reduced to its very core.

I have to motivate friends of mine to let me shoot portraits of them. I still don’t have any clue on how to convince them, but a simple way to do it is to set a date, meet, shoot, and enjoy!

Shoot more in black and white, shoot more in black and white, shoot more in black and white…I love the aesthetics but I don’t do it well.

Again, I say to myself: Relax! Don’t take it too seriously. Lean back and wait for what’s coming. You will get your chances to shoot.

There is one final thing on my list. It has been on my photography to-do list for more than two years now, I guess! I have this idea to take special shots at busy public spots with different people. It is a series of about 10 photographs. I think this year I should just start with the first one and not think too much on how to organize it.

I hope your 2015 will be a blast in terms of analogue photography! I keep my fingers crossed for you in the hopes that you could reach your goals in shooting analogue. Lomo on!

P.S. Thanks for reading! I almost forgot to mention that I would also really like to do some film swaps with a few of you guys.
