Roche Rock

I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with these shots. I hate the whole TLR shooting experience and I'd fully made up my mind to sell this camera but i stupidly decided to put a roll through it before moving it on. So half heartedly i took it along with my nikon em to the ancient hermitage/ chapel (actually no-one really knows what it was lol) called Roche Rock and quickly fired off the roll at f8 thinking that that would give me the best chance of decent focus and exposure and moved on to what i know best ( 35mm). Well how can i sell the bloody thing now, I mean look at the character of that lens! Wow, i'm actually gobsmacked! So next up is a trip into my darkroom to see how a couple of these print and then i suppose I'm gonna have to add it to my ever increasing photographic arsenal, grit my teeth and try to force myself to use it more often. Rolleicord 1933, Carl Zeiss Jena 75mm f 3.8, triotar lens.

I would not be so hard in judging. You must have one of the very early models of the rolleicord.....so 90 years in action; one has to expect some hick ups. I find that possible technical short comings support the vintage look of these shots - when I do my daily screening on Homes such photos attract me first! Perhaps there are some light leakages with your camera? Also the shutter speed may not be accurate anymore....but you will know better. I just want to motivate you not give up TLR.....perhaps you can also obtain a post war rolleicord or rolleiflex....they are wonderful cameras.

@rolfmg I was only disappointed because I didn't want to like the images as it would make it easier for me to sell the camera. Contrary to that I think the way it renders a scene is beautiful so yes I'm going to have to learn to shoot it better. The look is actually very close to how I've wanted my photos to look for a very long time. There are no light leaks, its just my poor scanning method, the shutter seems accurate, the taking lens has a huge scratch across it but doesn't seem to matter! The focusing screen is very dull and its missing the magnifier so focusing is impossible but I'm used to zone focussing so its not an issue at all, I think if I use it regularly I will use the sports finder mostly and avoid taking close ups. Thanks for taking the time to put forward the virtues of tlrs, I love a lot of your rolleiflex work as you know, perhaps now is the time to show the world how I shoot one:)
