What is the difference between the Daguerreotype Achromat and the Petzval Art Lenses?

The New Petzval Art Lenses and the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 have very different optical designs and can be used to produce very different visual effects. The New Petzval Art Lenses are most famous for giving a swirly bokeh effect. The Daguerreotype Achromat is a very versatile lens that can produce sharp images or more of a soft focus effect. It comes with entirely new aperture plates which have a completely new character. The Lumière aperture plates soak images in a radiant, soft glow. The Aquarelle aperture plates blend colors to produce a textured, painterly effect that is rarely achieved in photography. Furthermore, for the Achromat Art Lens, these aperture plates will be inserted into a shaft in front of the lens elements. On our Petzval lenses, these aperture plates were placed in between lens elements. This means the desired effects are even clearer and stronger with the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens – and you can adjust this accordingly, to your heart’s content!
